Introduction
Life in the Sixth Form encourages young people to develop socially whilst also taking on more responsibility for their own learning, all within a supportive environment.
The Sixth Form Centre provides recreation and study facilities in the historic surroundings of White Cottage, designed by Sir John Vanburgh in 1715.
Students are allowed considerable personal freedom in the centre. It is close enough to be able to reach all other parts of the campus within five minutes, but is far away enough away from the rest of the school to be private and secluded.
On this page you can find out all about Sixth Form life, including the roles of tutors, prefects, and how we help students plan for their future.

Opportunities
"In the Sixth Form, relationships with staff mature. Students take on more responsibility for their own work. We take on extra duties but we enjoy lots of privileges."
The Sixth Form aims to form a bridge between the years of compulsory schooling and the more independent years that follow either at university or college or in the workplace.
Students have many opportunities to help with younger pupils at the School and to take on prefect responsibilities, developing organisational, personal and social skills of particular interest to universities, colleges and employers alike.
In a secure atmosphere students develop the adult qualities they will need for their progress into further education or into their chosen careers.
Tutors
Tutor groups meet to discuss career options, university/college courses, written applications and personal concerns.
Tutors have daily contact with students at the start of each school day and are thus in a position to give references not only based on the student's academic abilities but also on their personal strengths.
Prefects
"I enjoy the responsibility of being a prefect. It enables me to develop personal and organisational skills that will be helpful in the future."
In the Summer Term students in the Lower Sixth are invited to apply for the position of Senior Prefect and are appointed after an interview with both the Principal and Head of Senior School.
All Lower Sixth students undertake a variety of duties throughout the school day. In this way they develop their management skills and their relationships with younger pupils.
Dress
School uniform is not worn in the Sixth Form but students are expected to dress smartly.
Staff recognise that Sixth Form students wish to express their own individual style appropriate to their age and personality but believe that school is a place of work and Sixth Form dress should reflect this.
