Scholarships

Scholarships and Bursaries for entry in September 2011

Scholarships may be awarded to outstanding applicants for up to the value of 25% of the fees and are available for entry into Year 3, Year 7, Year 9 and the Sixth Form (Year 12). All scholarships may be extended by a means tested scheme up to 100% for particularly deserving cases. In some cases, ‘All Round Scholarships’ may be awarded at the discretion of the Principal.

Year 3: Academic
Year 7: Academic and Music
Year 9: Academic, Sport (internal only) and Music
Sixth Form: Academic, Sport, Drama, Music and Art

The Plimmer Award

In addition to the Sixth Form Scholarships detailed above, the two most outstanding candidates of the year will be awarded The Plimmer Award which will be a 50% reduction of tuition fees.

Claremont Fan Court School Assisted Places Scheme

External applicants and current CFC families, who find themselves in financial difficulty, may apply for a bursary. All bursaries are means tested. The table below may help in determining the likelihood of receiving financial assistance.

This is only an indication of % fee remission that may be available based on household income. Many other factors are taken into account when calculating the size of a bursary or assisted place award and so the above figures are only intended as a guide. Subject to the means test, the outcome of the review of the Bursary Committee, the actual award offered could be substantially greater or less than these figures.

The James Hamilton Scholarship Award

This award has been set up in the memory of Lord James Hamilton, past pupil of Fan Court School. The James Hamilton Scholarship Award will be given to an outstanding applicant from the maintained education sector for entry into Year 3. This is a means tested award up to the value of 100% of tuition fees.

The Diana Hill Scholarship Award

Through the generous bequest by Diana Hill, a past Claremont pupil and long serving staff member, The Diana Hill Scholarship Award will be given to an outstanding applicant from the maintained sector for entry into Year 7. This is a means tested award up to the value of 100% of tuition fees.
